MONO (HYDROXYALKYL)UREA AND OXAZOLIDONE CROSSLINKING AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject crosslinking agent expectable for use as a substitute crosslinking agent for a formaldehyde-based crosslinking agent, by including a mono(hydroxyalkyl)urea and a 2-oxazolidone crosslinking agent. SOLUTION: This crosslinking agent comprises (A) a crosslinking agent selected from the group consisting of a mono(hydroxyalkyl)urea crosslinking agent containing one urea group, one hydroxyl group and at least two carbon atoms positioned between the urea group and the hydroxyl group [e.g. (2- hydroxyethyl)urea or the like] and 2-oxazolidone. (B) A composition comprises a polyfunctoinal molecule containing at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of carboxyl and an acid anhydride and the crosslinking agent of the component A. In the component A, the ratio of the total number of equivalents of functional groups contained in the component B to the number of mols of a hydroxyl groups contained in the component A is preferably about 2:1 to about 100:1.
