The drive uses an electric motor (4) with an inner rotor (7) and a stator (6) which is attached to the vehicle chassis. The torque delivered by the rotor is transmitted by a coupling (11) and an intermediate gearing (12) to a drive wheel, rotating relative to a stationary carrier (20). The intermediate gearing is incorporated in the centre of the drive wheel, or mounted on the drive wheel on the motor side. Pref. a planetary gearing is used with its hollow wheel (22) attached to the drive housing (13), the planetary wheels supported by bolts (39) from the planetary carrier (20).
