A control method for inducing a change in state between a slip condition and grip condition of a clutch, said clutch controlled by automatic clamping means actuating clamping force which varies as a function of at least one function variable. Variable clamping force to said clutch is temporarily modified by a simultaneously induced short thrust pulse in the direction corresponding with the said change in state, thereby inducing a permanent change in state of the clutch. An automatically shifted transmission device having at least two transmission ratios comprises a selective coupling clutch with disks (14, 15), thereby controlling the said device. It further contains force-generating means for applying force to the clamping means and which further contain thrust pulse initiator means (12). |
