QUADRA-SEAL METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPERATIONS UPON FLUID PRESSURE CONTAINMENT BODIES

A valve apparatus for injecting sealant into a packing valve body (2) without requiring venting of pressure within the valve apparatus. The apparatus includes an interior valve (4) which is attached to the valve body (2) by drilling and tapping a connection or by friction welding. A high pressure packing gland (21) is attached to the apparatus and a drill bit (41) is passed through this combination to complete an opening into the packing valve body (2). The drill bit (41) is withdrawn past the interior valve (4), which is closed and then outside of the combination. The packing gland (21) is attached to the packing valve body (2). The valve is closed, a completion plug (13) is installed into an end of fitting (1), and a completion cap (28) with a sealing ring (27) is installed over the entire valve (4) and fitting (1), thereby forming multiple seals.
