摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit operation of an inverter by supplying power to a main circuit of an electric railcer during power failure, by operating transfer means through a power failure detecting device equipment with a timer, and boosting a low voltage power supply installed in the electric railcar with an emergency power supply equipment. SOLUTION: If a power failure detecting device 2 having a timer has detected a power failure for a duration longer than an AC-AC section passing time, then an automatic transfer device 3 is operated and an emergency power supply equipment 3 and a resistor 4 are connected to a main circuit of an electric railcar. Then, an inverter 5 is driven by a power supply from an emergency power supply equipment 1. The inverter 5 supplies an exciting current to a main motor 6 for a short period of time, thereby operating the main motor 6 as an induction generator. The main motor 6 supplies power as an induction generator to an inverter 5. The inverter 5 controls the main motor 6, which operates as an induction generator, in order to avoid an excessive braking force and slippage of wheels on the rail by consuming the generated power in the resistor 4, thereby creating an electric braking action.
