PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means capable of embodying a liquid crystal device of a high polymer dispersion type capable of lessening scattering directivity without increasing driving voltage. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal device is constituted by disposing a composite layer of a liquid crystal high polymer formed by dispersing high polymers (not shown in Fig.) and liquid crystal molecules 135 with each other between a pair of substrates 100a and 100b coated with alignment layers 120a, 120b not subjected to rubbing treatments. Since these alignment layers 120a, 120b are not subjected to the rubbing treatments, plural domains are formed on the substrate surfaces and the alignment directions of the liquid crystal molecules are set in the specified direction within the domains but are random between the domains. Further, the liquid crystal molecules are aligned by regulating the twist angle thereof to a prescribed value, such as 90 deg., between the substrates. |
