Circuit breaker with sense bar to sense current from voltage drop across bimetal

The breaker has an operating mechanism (18), which opens- closes a set of separable contacts (13) of housing (3) serially connected to an electrical system. The ends of a bimetal (55) in an overcurrent trip device (53) are connected to the separable contacts so as to vary operation of contacts according to overcurrent situation. A set of conductors in a voltage sensor (113) detects potential across the bimetal. A sense bar (115) of the voltage sensor is joined to the bimetal and extends towards an electronic trip (103). The electronic trip detects arc and ground fault generation according to sensed voltage across bimetal. The sense bar moves along free end of bimetal.
