摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the liquid crystal display device, in which the display characteristic is made superior for semi-transparent, transparent and reflective types, by providing the display element, which is made by holding liquid crystals between opposing substrates, and the wavelength selective filter provided on the top side of the display surface. SOLUTION: A top side wavelength selective filter 1 has transparent and reflective wavelength characteristics, i.e., basically, the filter 1 reflects a blue color and passes green and red colors so that it mixes to generate a yellow color. The filter 1 is the half mirror by alternatively laminating an oxidized metallic film and oxdized silicon on a glass substrate. An LCD 2 is made by holding liquid crystals with glass substrates and pasting polarizing films on the front and the back. The LCD 2 is a negative type TN liquid crystal display device having the optical characteristic in which the background is shielded and characters are made transparent. A bottom side wavelength selective filter 3 is a Lippmann type hologram and is made by the photosensitive material in which two mutally different refractive index layers are formed in a three- dimensional manner. A back light 4 is made by plural LEDs having the light emitting surfaces on which diffusion films are arranged.
