A flat-plate solid electrolyte fuel cell comprising an oxygen electrode formed on one surface of a rectangular flat plate-like solid electrolyte that has dents and protuberances formed on nearly the whole of both surfaces thereof, a generating membrane having a fuel electrode on the other surface, interconnectors sandwiching the generating membrane, and sealing members surrounding the four sides of the generating membrane, so as to take out electric energy by reacting an oxidizing agent gas with a fuel gas electrochemically through the generating membrane, wherein a fuel gas introduction port (45) is formed over nearly the whole length of one side among the four sides of the cell on the fuel electrode side, a fuel gas exhaust port is formed on the opposing side over nearly the whole length thereof, an air introduction port (43a) is formed on either of the other two sides over a length of about half the length on the fuel gas introduction port side, and an air discharge port (44a) is formed on the side opposing the air introduction port over a length of about half the side at a position close to the fuel gas exhaust port. |
