An ultrasonic comb probe array assembly comprising a plurality of probe heads, each probe head comprising first and second supports, ultrasonic transducers mounted on each support, a hinged connection between the first and second supports allowing relative pivotal movement in a plane to encircle a portion of the object, the probe heads secured together in parallel spaced relation with the hinged connections generally aligned.
