Each flask (1) is fed in sequence with a milk sample from successive cows. At the same time, an electromagnetic read and write unit records the cow's unique number on the identification label (2). The transport mechanism (5) and uni-directional roller track (11) step the flasks forward, one at a time, below the filler. The door (10) is sealed to prevent fraudulent intervention in the sampling process. It can be opened only by an authorised person for removal of the complete rack (13) or carousel of flasks for analysis. Only then can the transport mechanism be reset.
