PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exercise a measure to prevent a vehicle from deviating from a traveling lane only if the vehicle is about to deviate from the traveling lane due to the carelessness of a driver, regarding a traveling support device to prevent the vehicle from deviating from the traveling lane. SOLUTION: A vehicular traveling support device is composed which carries out steering control to prevent a vehicle from deviating from a traveling lane. The position of the vehicle in the traveling lane is detected by photographing the area before the vehicle with a video camera 12. If the vehicle is about to deviate from the traveling lane, the driver is alarmed by making a motor 36 generate small torque. After the alarm, the awakening state of the driver is judged based on whether or not the driver inputs steering torque into a steering wheel 26. If the driver is judged not awakening, the motor 36 is made to generate large torque to direct the vehicle to the center of the traveling lane. |
