PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink compsn. for ink jet printing having a further improved light resistance by using an ink vehicle and a polyvalent metal complex of a magenta dye ligand comprising a 4-hydroxy-3-(2'-pyridylazo)-1-(sulfo-substd.)- naphthalene. SOLUTION: The polyvalent metal is selected from among Ni(II), Cu(II), Co(II), Zn(II), and Cr(III). The dye ligand is represented by the formula [wherein R1 is independently selected from R2 and R3 ; R2 is SO3 M (wherein M is H<+> , Li<+> , Na<+> , K<+> , Cs<+> , a protonized amine or a quaternary ammonium); and R3 is SO2 NR4 R5 (wherein R4 and R5 are each independently selected from the group consisting of halogens and hydrophobic oil-soluble sites or R4 is selected from the group consisting of halogens and hydrophilic water-soluble sites and R5 is selected from among hydrphilic water-soluble sites)]. A magenta ink may be water-base or oil-base. A water-base ink contains about 1-about 5 wt.% water-soluble dye. |
