PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high speed high quality image by the lesser number of passes by a method wherein an image data is formed by a plurality of times of scanning with a recording head, and horizontal scanning resolution and vertical scanning resolution are controlled by printing so that a specific relation is realized. SOLUTION: Rated horizontal scanning resolution is H, rated vertical scanning resolution is V, printing horizontal scanning resolution is H', and printing vertical scanning resolution is V'. An input data is divided into an odd column and an even column, which are printed by two passes. That is, the odd column data is printed on a position of the odd column read with an optical sensor on the first pass, and then the even column data is printed on the second pass on the position of the same odd column as that on the first pass. That is, the horizontal scanning direction resolution H changes at least from 1200 dpi to H' 600 dpi, and further single shot or two shots come to be printed on respective pigments arranged at 600 dpi pitch. A recording method wherein at least either of H'<H or V'<V is this realized, is used. |
