PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high-speed consecutive photographing by storing only specified image data out of the image data outputted from an image pickup device in the midst of consecutive photographing operation. SOLUTION: After instructing a signal processing circuit 11 to perform display operation, succeeding routine to perform the compression processing of image data is executed. In this routine, the compression processing of the digital image data stored in an RAM 1a is performed. After completing the compression processing, routine to store data in a non-volatile memory is executed. In this routine, the digital image data of one frame or five frames compressed by the preading routine to perform the compression processing of the image data are transferred and stored in a non-volatile memory 14. In a consecutive photographing mode, operation which takes time such as the compression processing of the digital image data, the storage thereof in the memory 14 and the display thereof on a liquid crystal monitor 13 is executed after finishing the consecutive photographing operation, so that a temporal cycle required for the consecutive photographing can be shortened. |
