Process for the preparation of 7 alpha -hydroxy dehydroepiandrosterone (I) and 7 alpha -hydroxy pregnelone (II) from dehydroepiandrosterone and pregnelone, respectively, by bioconversion using Fusarium moniliforme. The products are of formulae (I) and (II). The strain of Fusarium monoliforme used has been isolated, identified and kept at the Ecole Superieure de Microbiologie et de Securite Alimentaire de Brest.
