PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an area where desired information can be continuously detected by changing an area used for detecting information before panning to a set area in the case of detecting that it is the time for panning. SOLUTION: A switch SWMOD decides a method for selecting a range-finding point at the time of panning and selects a mode in which the range-finding point is not changed at the time of panning (range-finding point changing mode 1), a mode in which the range-finding point is changed to a central range-finding point at the time of panning (range-finding point changing mode 2) and a mode in which the range-finding point is changed to a specified range-finding point at the time of panning (range-finding point changing mode 3). The mode 1 is a mode in the conventional camera in which the range-finding point is not changed at the time of panning. The mode 2 is a mode which is suitable for a beginner who is unaccustomed to panning operation and in which the position of the range-finding point is changed to the central range-finding point at the time of panning. The mode 3 is a mode which is suitable for a senior and in which the range-finding position previously set by a switch is changed to the range-finding position at the time of panning. |
