摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve corrosion resistance of a channel box made of zircaloy for a fuel assembly used in a nuclear reactor. SOLUTION: The amount of manganese contained in stainless steel is caused to be 0.1% or less of a handle 2a, guide rollers 3, and a sheath 2b of a control rod 2 composed of the stainless steel and standing close to a channel box 1, whereby the amount ofβrays generated from the stainless steel and reaching the channel box is reduced. Further,βrays generated from the stainless steel are shielded by coating surfaces of the handle 2a and of the sheath with ceramics such as zirconia, alumina, or silicon carbide.
