Carbon gas diffusion electrode for batteries and fuel cells

Carbon gas diffusion electrode is produced by pyrolyzing a composite made of an organic aerogel or xerogel and a reinforcing structure consisting completely or in part of organic material. An Independent claim is also included for the production of the electrode comprising impregnating the reinforcing structure with a basic solution of monomers forming an aerogel or xerogel, gelling and aging, and then drying and pyrolyzing in a protective gas with optional hydrophobisizing.
