Thermal printing process using material with ink microcapsules

The system has a substrate material formed with a paper base layer (12) and a protective transparent foil (16) and in between are micro capsules (14) that contain printing ink. The capsules are in groups of cyan, magenta and yellow and when selectively heated allow color images to be generated. The inks are released by passing over heated rollers that are temperature regulated to vary print density.
