System of control of elongated objects has image taking unit to take object image being controlled and optical position identifier monitors. The system for quality control of elongated objects, especially moving at right angles to their linear extension at a speed in the order of 10 m per sec. Preferably for controlling the formation of end sections of electric cable e.g. crimped fittings. An image taking unit is provided for taking an image of the object (3) to be controlled. Also a position identifying unit, including optical facilities (4-9) for the monitoring of the image taking region suitable for taking an image, which for its resolution is coupled with the image taking unit.
