FLUORINE-CONTAINING COMPOUND, OPTICAL THIN FILM AND ANTIREFLECTIVE ARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as a raw material for optical thin films having low reflectivity and excellent abrasion resistance and for antireflective articles using the optical thin films. SOLUTION: A compound of the formula: CH2 =CH-O-(CH2 )a -O-(CH2 )b - Rf-(CH2 )b -O-(CH2 )a -O-CH=CH2 [Rf is a fluorine-containing alkyl; (a) is 1-2; (b) is 0-3], e.g. CH2 =CH-O-(CH2 )2 -O-CH2 -(CF2 )8 -CH2 -O-CH2 )2 -O-CH=CH2 . The compound of the formula: CH2 =CH-O-(CH2 )a -O-(CH2 )b -Rf-(CH2 )b -O-(CH2 )a -O-CH= CH2 is obtained by allowing a fluorine-containing dialcohol compound to react with a vinyl ether having a halogen in the presence of an alkali catalyst.
