<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the storage or transport of used formed polystyrene resin aticles occurring at electric home appliance stores or supermarkets, to enable the production of recycled polystyrene resin articles, and to enable the effective thermal decomposition to recover styrene, etc. SOLUTION: Foamed polystyrene resin articles are dipped in a petroleum- derived dipping medium, such as kerosene, gas oil, or fuel oil optionally contg. a small amt. of an arom. hydrocarbon, to be caused to shrink to 1/30-1/50. The resultant gum clay-like substance is recovered, which is thermally press molded to give recycled polystyrene resin articles or is thermally decomposed and thus obtd. vapor phase is subjected to fractional distillation to recover styrene, etc.</p> |
