PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new protein having the XIII factor b sub-unit and the XIII factor a' sub-unit having a specific amino acid sequence, having the biological activity of the XIII factor a after activated, and useful for the prevention of hemorrhage after an operation, the treatments for curing wounds, and the like. SOLUTION: This new protein has the XIII factor b sub-unit and the XIII factor a' sub-unit, and has the physiological activity of the XIII factor a after activated. The XIII factor a' sub-unit has an amino acid sequence of the formula wherein in an amino acid sequence from the 38-G (Gly) to the 731-M (Met), one or more amino acids may be deleted or replaced by other amino acids, and maintains the activity of the XIII factor a' sub-unit. The new protein is obtained by expressing a DNA encoding the XIII factor a' sub-unit and the XIII factor b sub-unit obtained from a library originated from human liver mRNA, and subsequently dimerizing the expressed sub-units. |
