A detailed drawing is used to choose the support points, the coordinates for which are fed into a computer and converted into the centre of a contact sphere. The object (4) being measured is placed in a virtual measurement position and the fixturing arms (1) with the contact spheres are placed close to the actual support point coordinates inside the measurement volume, with the aid of the positions given by the measuring device in the machine. The positions of the contact spheres associated with the arms are measured using the measuring device and any deviation from the chosen position is recorded, then position of the contact sphere is adjusted to the chosen position if necessary, and then the object is introduced with its support points in contact with the arms. An Independent claim is also included for the fixturing system for carrying out this method. |
