Detection device for coupling data capture cells in multi-section computer tomography system

A computer tomography system (10) has a data capture system (18) comprising a large number of capture cells. A number of sets of cells form a number of scanning sections. In a set of cells to one side of the first section a number of cells are wired together to form N times cells, where N is greater than 1. In the set on the other side a similar M times coupling occurs, where M is greater than N. An Independent claim is made for a CT device. Typically the data capture cells are 1 mm<2>, so that a coupling of two cells yields 2 mm<2> channels and a coupling of three cells yields 3 mm<2> channels.
