The steering lock (2) has a locking bolt (5) with a toothed locking element (6) displaced relative to the steering shaft (1), for cooperation with a toothed cog ring (18) mounted on the latter, with a pair of contact-less sensors (28,29) coupled to an electronic control (14), for detecting the position of a safety catch (20) holding the locking bolt in the released position and the locking position of the locking bolt, respectively.
