PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful for an organic electroluminescent element, a moving layer of an electrophotography, a luminescent material or the like. SOLUTION: This compound is the one of formula I [R1 to R20 are each H, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl, an alkoxy, or a (non)substituted amino, aryl, or heterocycle with the proviso that the (non)substituted aryl or heterocycle can have a mutually condensed structure when being adjacent], e.g. N-phenyl-N-(3- methylphenyl)-4-[4-(N-phenyl-N-naphthyl)aminophenyl]naphthylamine of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by adding a metallic reagent such as an alkyllithium to a solution of a halide of a triarylamine in an inert gas atmosphere at a low temperature and stirring the added mixture, additionally adding zinc chloride or the like to the stirred materials and further stirring the obtained materials and further adding a solution of the halide of other triaryl amine and a coupling catalyst such as dichlorobistriphenylphosphinepalladium to react with the added and stirred materials.
