PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new glycoprotein fragment useful for preventing recurrent herpes simplex virus(HSV)-induced diseases and capable of being produced by host cells containing a nucleic acid sequence coding for HSV glycoprotein B1 type. SOLUTION: A novel fragment immunological equivalent to recombinant HSV glycoprotein B(gB) polypeptide produced by host cells containing an isolated nucleotide sequence expressed by the formula and coding for glycoprotein B1 type (gB1) useful as a vaccine, etc., for preventing recurrent HSV-induced diseases. This fragment of the glycoprotein is obtained by proliferating HSV-1 or HSV-2 in vero cells, separating A<+> RNA by a conventional method to prepare a library, obtaining gB1 gene by a selection selective translation method, transducing it by using a in a plasmid and expressing the gene in mammal cells. |
