PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle overheat alarming device which can sense an overheat of the axle of any freit car and inform the train crew about occurrence of the overheat. SOLUTION: A freight train is composed of a power car and a plurality of freight cars coupled with the power car 2, wherein each freight car 4 is equipped with a signal transmission device 40 to produce the transmission data representing the overheated condition of each axle 12 and transmit wirelessly on the basis of the sensing signals given by a temp. sensor which senses the axle temperature at the bearing part 14 of each axle 12. The power car 2 is equipped with an alarming device 20 which receives the transmitted data from the transmission device 40 of each freight car 4, judges thereupon eventual overheat of each axle of the applicable car, and informs the train crew about occurrence of overheat. An overheat of axle results in expansion and a wear happens in the bearing part 14 while the train is running, and this can prevent the axle 12 from breakage previously. Because the freight car 4 has no power supply line, a generator 46 (of pendulum type) must be installed for supplying the electric power to the transmission device 40. |
