The invention concerns a method and machines for forming the volume of a box with polygonal cross-section or the like from a flat corrugated or solid fibreboard blank, wound around a mandrel with polygonal cross-section identical to that of the box. The invention is characterised in that the steps for forming the box consist in: positioning the blank on the mandrel, making a so-called intermediate face coincide with one of the horizontal faces; folding the faces adjacent to said intermediate face around the mandrel longitudinal ridges; and bonding the joining strap; and the operations of gluing, folding and pressing the base flap, ejecting the box, are carried out by the co-operation of a rotation of the mandrel about a fixed horizontal axis with fixed or controlled folding and pressing the means, the assembled box being preferably ejected in the same plane as that in which the blanks are inserted. |
