The present invention relates to a system which increases the efficiency of an already patented mechanism and for which the same author proposes as basic modifications the extension of each of the cuts made in the clamping nut intended to lock the handlebar rod. According to the invention, the resulting segments of said cuts are intended to compress simultaneously the two telescopically coupled rods as a result of the concentric pressure exerted by the counter-nut at the truncated surface. Depending on the characteristics of the material used for its fabrication, said plurality of cuts can be eliminated. The system of the invention comprises a total cut in the nut in the axial direction of said nut in order to provide for the expansion of its diameter and to facilitate the total clamping with the handlebar rod which has a slightly larger diameter, the assembly being tightened by means of a traversing screw. While adopting the indicated changes, the invention proposes another version of the clamping system by transforming the conical and threaded sections which form the upper external periphery of the clamping nut into a single and slightly conical section, whereby an improved progressive coupling on a larger surface is obtained as well as a higher pressure is obtained more easily due to a more acute conicity on a considerably larger surface. Concerning the modifications of the clamping system, the invention also proposes another version wherein both modified clamping nuts are not provided with an internal threading in order to be directly tightened onto smooth fork rods. Finally, in order to increase the efficiency, reduce the weight and simplify the system, it is also proposed to eliminate washers, pins and prisoner screws which can cause deterioration to the threading of the fork rod.
