PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contrive the reduction in the connection loss of an optical fiber amplifier using a non-quartz optical amplification fiber with a quartz fiber. SOLUTION: A TEC fiber 22 is bonded by fusion to an input side quartz fiber 20. A TEC fiber 16a is fusion-bonded also to a pigtail fiber 14a which is connected with a pumping light source 12a. The NAs and mode field diameters of the end surfaces on the fused and bonded sides of the fibers 22 and 16a are respectively formed in the same manner as those of the fibers 20 and 14a. The NAs and mode field diameters of the other end surfaces of the fibers 22 and 16a are formed in the same manner as those of the end surface of a non-quartz optical amplification fiber 10 facing the fiber 22 via a WDM coupler 18a. A multilayer film mirror 30a transmits signal light and reflects pumping light. |
