A dual-position lock for securing cages of different sizes in a ventilated cage and rack system. The dual-position lock is comprised of a mounting shaft assembly consisting of a bracket having a shaft secured thereto with the shaft secured to the rack system. A first retaining member, having a retaining tab disposed on one end, is rotatably mounted on the shaft adjacent to the bracket. A second retaining member, having a retaining tab disposed on one end, is also rotatably mounted on the shaft. The first retaining member and the second retaining member are matingly engaged for frictionally coupling the first retaining member to the second retaining member. The first retaining member and the second retaining members can be matingly engaged in either of two locking positions for locking cages of different sizes in the rack system.
