Device comprises a wire conductor (6) with a probe (7), such as a metallic electrode, at its end. The diameter of the wire prior to the probe is between 10<->2 and 10<->4m. A means for measurement of the force on the wire is connected to the conductor. An Independent claim is made for a procedure for classifying an insulator under test.
