PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve deodorizing performance at a low cost without lowering cooling performance of a refrigerator by a method wherein an exciting source for a photocatalyst is combined with the chamber illuminating function of the refrigerator. SOLUTION: A fluorescent lamp 14 serving as a chamber illumination lamp is arranged in the vicinity of a return duct (the suction port of a refrigerating chamber vaporizer 11), and the surface of a fluorescent lamp 14 is coated with a photocatalyst, such as titanium oxide. A photocatalyst layer of titanium oxide having transparency has a surface to adsorb a smell material, such as an organic substance, and an oxidation force being very strong in photocatalyst reaction, and is activated by comparatively weak ultraviolet rays, and effects oxidation decomposition of the smell material adsorbed to the surface. Further, the photocatalyst has an antifouling and a sterilization antibacterial function in addition to a deodorizing function. |
