PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the stable rotation of a contact unit and prevent the contact unit from sticking to the vibration unit of a vibration wave motor, regardless of the frictional heat and humidity by a method wherein the frictional contact part of the contact unit which is brought into frictional contact with the vibration unit and moved by relatively vibration is made of resin composition, which contains heat-resistant resin and a titanate system coupling agent. SOLUTION: A rod-shaped vibration unit 11, and a contact unit 1 which is a moving unit brought into contact with the top end part of the vibration unit 11, are provided. If positinonal phase differences between annular piezoelectric devices 3-6 which are the electro-mechanical conversion devices of the vibration unit, and time phase differences between AC voltages applied to the piezoelectric devices from an electrode board are selected properly, circular or elliptical motions of the surface particles of a driving plane 10 of the vibration unit 11 are formed, and the contact unit 1 pressed against the driving plane 10 is driven to be rotated. The contact unit 1 is pressed against the driving plane 10 of the vibration unit 11 with a load of, for instance, 300 gw to obtain friction force. If friction material 12 such as a liquid resin composition is sprayed onto the frictional contact plane and cured by a heat treatment to form a film, stable rotation is obtained. |
