A pole assembly suitable for supporting electrical transmission wires or the like comprising an elongated pole of a plastic material having first and second opposed ends and an interior conduit extending therethrough, one end of the elongated pole being inwardly tapered to have a somewhat conical configuration with a first support member being mounted on the tapered end, the support member having a recess which is sized to receive the first end of the elongated pole and to be frictionally retained thereon, the support member including means for supporting the electrical power transmission wire.
