The spectacle cord (1) has metal tags (2, 3) on its ends for frame side branch connectors (4, 5). The metal tags are covered with a thermoplastic material, e.g. in the form of sleeves which are previously threaded onto the cord, slid over the metal tags after assembly and then heat-shrunk to hold them in place.
