PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger in which optical communication can be made between a portable unit and an external machine or the charger body while setting the portable unit in the charger by mounting the portable unit in the charger thereby preventing an optical communication port from being concealed. SOLUTION: A portable unit 1 has an optical communication port 2 on the bottom face thereof. The charging base 3 of a charger is provided with an insertion hole 4 for charging the portable unit 1 having outer surface provided with a light transmitting/receiving window 5. A mirror 6 guides the optical axis at the optical port 2 of the portable unit 1 inserted into the hole 4 to the light transmitting/receiving window 5 by bending the optical axis perpendicularly at the time of charging. A half mirror is employed for that purpose such that the light polarized by the halt mirror is guided to an optical communication port 7 disposed in the charger. According to the arrangement, optical communication can be made between the portable unit 1 and an external machine 8 during charging operation and optical communication can also be made between the portable unit 1 and the charging body 3. |
