PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an alloy to maintain the forgeability characteristic of brass and to improve its dezincification-resistance by subjecting a copper base alloy contg. Ni to working treatment and finely dispersing anα+βstructure therein. SOLUTION: This alloy contains the following elements. The compositional range of Cu is regulated to 60.5 to 61.5%. P is added for improving its dezincification resistance, and its range is regulated to 0.07 to 0.10%. Pb is added for improving the machinability of a forged product, and its range is regulated to 1.6 to 2.4%. Sn improves the dezincification resistance, but, sine it is expensive, its range is regulated to 1.0 to 1.5%. Ni has direct effect on the dezincification resistance, on the other hand, it enables the uniform fractionation of theα+βstructure and has effect on dezincing resistance, and its range is regulated to 0.05 to 0.10%. Ti is added for assisting the uniform fractionating of theβphases by the synergetic effect with Ni, and its range is regulated to 0.02 to 0.15%. The production of the alloy is executed by subjecting a billet of an alloy ingot having the compsn. to heat treatment at a billet heating temp. after extrusion, reduction and hot forging and sufficiently performing stress removal at the inside of the forged product. |
