PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for generating a light pulse not reducing a mean light output by half when a frequency is reduced, and an optical signal of a prescribed frequency is generated, having simple constitution and excellent S/N(signal/noise) ratio. SOLUTION: An optical switch 11 of a light pulse generating device 10 is inputted with input light 121 of an RZ(return to zero) light pulse of the frequency (f) from a light pulse generator 12, and converts it into the output light 122, 123 of the RZ light pulse of the frequency f/2 in response to an electric bias signal of the frequency f/2 of a signal generator 13 to output alternately them to two outputs port 14. An optical fiber 15 from one side arm of the two outputs port 14 is coupled with the optical fiber of a port of a light phase adjuster 17 through an optical coupler part 151 in a relation that optical axes are parallel to each other, and doesn't polarize the input light 122. The optical fiber 16 from the other arm of the two outputs port 14 is coupled with the port 183 of an optical multiplexer 18 through the optical coupler part 161 in the state that tire optical axes are orthogonally intersected with each other, and polarizes the output light 123 at right angle. The optical multiplexer 18 is inputted with the output light 122 and the output light 123 of a polarization plane orthogonally intersecting with its polarization plane. Thus, pulse interference between both is eliminated, and a multiplexed wave 181 of double light intensity and frequency f/2 is outputted. |
