摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain the mechanical strength as a spacer function and the sufficient strength to prevent the occurrence of peeling by forming an alignment layer on a substrate formed with spacers of a tapered shape and rubbing the surface of this alignment layer. SOLUTION: Pixel electrodes 34 are formed on an insulating film 33. Source electrodes 32 and the pixel electrodes 34 are connected by through-holes 35. In such a case, colored layers of red, green and blue are repetitively formed, by which insulating films 33 as color filters having the specified film thicknesses of the respective colored layers are obtd. Next, the spacers 3 are so formed that their taper angle is smaller than 85 deg.. The spacers 3 are then so formed to cover the same. Further, the alignment layer 9 consisting of, for example, polyimide is formed to cover the same and the surface thereof is subjected to a rubbing treatment. The transparent substrate 20 formed in such a manner and the transparent substrate 1 formed with the alignment layer 6 subjected to the rubbing treatment on the surface and common electrodes 2 are arranged to face each other. Liquid crystals 21 are sealed into the spacing between the transparent substrate 20 and the transparent substrate 1.
