PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass waveguide element easy to be small-sized and integrated, and mass-produceable, and a method of manufacturing it. SOLUTION: This glass waveguide element is provided with a core 3 having a diffraction grating, an over clad 4 for covering the core 3, and a heater 6 for changing the Bragg wavelength of the diffraction grating, which is provided on the over clad 4. The core 3 and the peripheral part thereof are formed in the state continuously separated from a base 1 along the longitudinal direction of the core 3, and also formed in the state intermittently separated from both the clads. |
