PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the conductive powder for hydrogen storage alloy negative electrode, which can shorten the initial activating treatment process and which can improve the discharging capacity, especially, discharging capacity at the time of high efficient discharge. SOLUTION: As a nickel power to be added to a hydrogen storage alloy negative electrode, which is merely considered as a conductive auxiliary material up to now, thin flake type nickel is used. At this stage, a thin flake nickel having the mean thickness less than 1/4 of the mean length thereof and less than 1/2 of the mean width thereof and having the mean width at 1/2 of the mean length or less is used. The nickel powder having this thin flake shape can effectively shorten the initial activating treatment process and reduced the electrode loss in comparison with the conventional nearly spherical nickel or the chained (filament-like) nickel powder. |
