A screw implant, for medical or surgical use, having a handle portion (1) and a threaded shank (2), the handle portion (1) being with an angle with the longitudinal axis of the shank portion (2) in such a way when a rotational force is applied to the handle, the shank rotates around its longitudinal axis. The screw implant is screwed into the drill holes created on the alveolar ridges of edentulous or partially edentulous jaws to replace one or more missing teeth. The bone segments after jaw fractures or after orthognatic surgery can be immobilized using screw implants in combination with arch-bars or acrylic splints. Arch bars can be stabilized on the screw implants and remaining teeth with wires. Then intermaxillary fixation can be established with the use of elastics or wires between the arch-bars mounted on the screw implants either on the upper or lower jaw. |
