PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a rotary transformer to be used with multi-channels by reducing the number of stator-side coils. SOLUTION: A stator-side half body 21 of a rotary transformer is formed to be in a cross-shape corresponding to attaching positions of magnetic heads 7a-7d provided every 90 degrees. A rotor-side half body 21 of the rotary transformer is formed to be in a 90-degree fan-shape corresponding to a winding angleαof a magnetic tape. Thus, for four magnetic heads 7a-7d, the stator-side half body 21 of the rotary transformer is provided with stator-side coils for two channels. Therefore, the number of the stator-side coils is reduced than the conventional one, while allowing a sufficient interval of the stator-side coils to be secured, resulting in preventing crosstalk between the stator-side coils. Thus, the configuration for multi-channels is realized without increasing a diameter of a rotary drum 2.
