<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve congestion at a highway tollgate by realizing payment of a road toll through electronic settlement by using a cellular phone inside a car without having to install a special on-vehicle machine. SOLUTION: A telephone cell is made from the cellular phone 141 in a running automobile to a highway toll adjuster 131, after the required information has been delivered and the call is hung up, at the same time the call is received by both the cellular phone 141 and a monitoring device 12n1 installed at a tollgate based on the information, a signature to pass the tollgate is provided to both the cellular phone 141 and the monitoring device 12n1 installed at the tollgate. The sign obtained from the cellular phone 141 is given to the monitoring device 12n1 installed at the tollgate by the expressway toll adjuster 131, and when the sign can be discriminated to match with the given sign, passage of the tollgate is permitted by the monitoring device 12n1 . Also toll is calculated and the highway toll is charged simultaneously together with the collection of a telephone charge of the cellular phone 141 or separately through a invoice from a credit company at the highway toll adjuster 131.</p> |
