PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately discriminate that a residual capacity of a secondary battery using a positive electrode of hydroxide at the end of discharging has reached an allowable lower limit through measurement of its voltage. SOLUTION: A discriminating voltage value for discriminating that a residual capacity of a secondary battery using a positive electrode of nickel hydroxide at the end of discharging has reached an allowable lower limit is determined for a lower voltage value than a value obtained when discharged at the first time, in consideration of not only the voltage value obtained when the allowable lower limit is reached when discharged at the first time, but also a voltage value gradually lowered due to memory effect produced, when the allowable lower limit is reached when discharged subsequent to the second time, it is discriminated that the residual capacity has reached the allowable lower limit, based on this determined discriminating voltage value. |
