PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to express general sound information as character information. SOLUTION: A code book in which featured values of sound information for reference and character information are made to correspond is stored and sound information or video information accompanied by sound information are inputted and distances among featured values of the sound information for reference and featured values of the inputted sound information are calculated and the inputted sound information are transformed into character information to which the calculated distance is the nearest by referring to the code book and, then, the transformed character information are displayed.
